Rofina Yasmin Othman, Associate Vice Chancellor (Industry and Community Networks), University of Malaya

Yasmin's portfolio covers the coordination of units, and activities involved with industry and community across campus. She is also committed to building an entrepreneurial ecosystem that will accelerate the scaling of the University’s R&D outputs through to their application to society She is also an advocate of the concept of the University as an integral part of the community. She currently sits on UM’s Board of Directors and is a member of the University Senate . She was the first founding vice president of the Malaysian Innovation and Technology Managers Association (ITMA).Her strong interest in developing a global academic entrepreneurship ecosystem for universities in Malaysia resulted in the  network for University startups USTART ASEAN in 2016. She conceived UM's first tech accelerator UMXcellerate and continues to mentor several university startups. Recently she was involved in the syndication committee of the Malaysian National Entrepreneur Policy 2030.

Case in Action: Teaching entrepreneurship – Dos and Donts

Studying entrepreneurship can be beneficial especially with its ability to teach students to cultivate unique skills and to think out of the box. To encourage students to have an entrepreneurship mindset, a creative and innovative course should be done well to direct students to transfer their skills in their future workplace to create significant value.
