Sabbir Ahmed was appointed Head of Retail Banking and Wealth Management (RBWM) for HSBC Vietnam in July 2016 to lead this ever-expanding segment of HSBC’s business. 
Sabbir brings to Vietnam his over 19 years of experience in retail banking and risk management. He first joined HSBC in Bangladesh in February 2014 and led its RBWM team through the changes brought about by Project Foundation. Under his management, the business achieved the financial objectives, balance sheet growth and the improvement in its customer base and branch network. Besides that, Sabbir has been involved in a number of financial crime awareness building and culture change initiatives in the RBWM network which are improving HSBC’s financial crime controls. 
Prior to joining HSBC, Sabbir was with Standard Chartered Bank, Bangladesh where he held a number of roles including Distribution head and Head of credit risk for retail and SME customers. 
In his new assignment in Vietnam, Sabbir will focus on achieving sustainable growth for the business in line with HSBC’s Global RBWM priorities.
