Robert Vong | Co-founder
BlockFin Asia

Robert Vong, Co-founder, BlockFin Asia

As BlockFin Asia co-founder, Robert helped organize Vietnam’s first Fintech conference in 2016, advocating for tighter collaboration between industry stakeholders and regulators. In addition to his role building the community as a Bitcoin Saigon core member, he serves as an advisor to FinTech startups.

In 2014, Robert contributed to the Australian Tax Office’s draft ruling on the application of GST to Bitcoin by clarifying pertinent use cases for tax treatment. He was subsequently invited to submit on this topic to the Australian Senate Standing Committees on Economics enquiry into digital currencies. This informed early industry concerns about double taxation, which ultimately played a part in the July 2017 reversal of the preceding decision.

Prior to this, Robert was a buyside equity research analyst in Melbourne and New York City. He has an MBA from New York University and an engineering degree from RMIT University.
