George Berczely, Country Manager, DHL VNPT Express Ltd

George joined Deutsche Post DHL in March 2004 as Director of Corporate Strategy, supporting various M&A and strategy projects, including the ‘Global Aviation Strategy’ which ultimately led to the makeup of the current intercontinental air network at DHL Express. 

In 2007, he joined DHL Express Asia Pacific in Singapore as Vice President of Margin Improvement, and rolled out the Network Operations Efficiency Program (NOEP) in Asia Pacific as part of the Regional Operations team. In 2009, he was appointed as CFO of Network Operations and Aviation for Asia Pacific and Emerging Markets (APEM), responsible for Aviation and Hubs Finance, as well as Operations Controlling in APEM. 

In 2011, George was appointed Vice President of Business Planning & Performance Management for Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. His role in Performance Management focused on ensuring revenue targets were met by the region’s key countries, and on organizing country business reviews. In this capacity, he was also responsible for the management of joint ventures and partnerships in the region, and evaluating and executing M&A transactions. Additionally, George chaired the Asia Pacific Investment Committee and was responsible for the activities of the Asia Pacific Management Board. 

Prior to joining DHL, George spent about five years with McKinsey & Company Inc, where he was a part of the Transport & Logistics Practice, supporting Deutsche Post DHL. 

A British and Austrian national, George holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Regensburg, Germany and an MBA from INSEAD, completed in France and Singapore. He speaks six languages, is married and has an eight-year old son.
