Hugh is a 30+ year veteran of the telecommunications industry and has held executive positions in a range of international companies such as Cable &Wireless, BT Infonet, Hong Kong Telecom and many others with extensive hands on experience in wide range of disciplines from engineering and project management to C-level responsibility for technical and commercial operations in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa. Based in Australia since 2008 he has consulted widely in ICT for operators, governments and development agencies across the Pacific region with extensive involvement in the initial and ongoing roll-out of submarine cables to small island nations commencing in 2009. He is currently retained by Solomon Island Submarine Cable Company (SISCC) as Strategic Advisor and is Project Director for the Solomon Islands’ second international submarine cable ACS-1.
