Laurence Wong is General Director of Great Eastern Life Vietnam.  He is a 29-year veteran of the insurance industry, and has held key positions in various insurers ranging from mass market to high networth.  He has spent the last two years establishing Great Eastern’s presence in an emerging market with great potential due to a rapidly growing middle-class in a population of 90 million.

Laurence has deep experience in agency advisory, and has also developed a wide range of distribution channels.  He is a pioneer of bancassurance in Singapore as well as starting direct channels (both face-to-face and call centres).  He also has a strong background in strategic marketing and product development and offerings – the latter exemplified by his knowledge of not just life and health, but also retirement, motor and personal lines.

In the area of health insurance, Laurence is a strong advocate of Portable Medical Benefits Schemes (PMBS) and believes that its time has come with the Medishield Life revamp in Singapore.  It will be a major evolutionary step for the employee benefits market.
