Dr Ajay Bakshi, Managing Director & CEO, Manipal Hospitals

Dr Ajay Bakshi is an experienced healthcare professional and has played diverse roles as practicing Neurosurgeon (India), Stem cell Scientist (USA), and Management Consultant (global) over the last two decades. He has abundant expertise in healthcare with strong leadership skills and passion for innovation. He received his medical training from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi, India and has completed the Wharton Management Program from The Wharton School (2002-2004). He started as a Consultant Neurosurgeon at a leading private hospital in New Delhi and pioneered Endoscopic Neurosurgery in India after receiving his training from Prof. Axel Perneczky in Germany. His Neurosurgical research work was published in Journal of Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurological Sciences, Nutrition and National Medical Journal of India. In his last role, Dr Bakshi was an Associate Partner with McKinsey and Company where he worked for more than six years. Dr Bakshi is deeply passionate about using technology to improve healthcare delivery models and he helped create and lead McKinsey's global mobile healthcare practice.

 

Dr. Bakshi has been leading Max Healthcare since November 2011. Since then, the Max Healthcare family has grown to over 7,000 employees and four new hospitals have been launched successfully. A strong leadership team has been constituted which is leading Max Healthcare towards its aspiration of clinical and service excellence across all facilities. In June 2014, Dr. Bakshi joined Manipal Hospital as Managing Director and CEO.
