Dr Stephan Chalon, Medical Director, Clinical Pharmacology, Medicines for Malaria Venture

Stephan Chalon joined MMV (Geneva, Switzerland) in May 2014. As Medical Director-Clinical Pharmacology, he is the physician responsible for early drug development and clinical pharmacology supporting antimalarial projects from Discovery up to Phase2A/Proof of Concept. Stephan did his medical training at Paris VI University in France and is a board-certified internist. He also holds a PhD degree in Pharmacology from Paris XI University. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology at Stanford University, USA. He has over 20 years of experience in the field of early development, translational medicine and clinical pharmacology including 14 years in large pharmaceutical companies where he held positions of increasing responsibility in Europe and in the US: Lilly Research Laboratories, Wyeth/Pfizer Global R&D, Roche Pharma and Shire Pharmaceuticals. Stephan’s drug development expertise covers multiple therapeutic areas (malaria, neuroscience, cardio-metabolism, immuno-inflammation) from candidate selection up to Proof-of-Concept/Phase2a studies and Clinical Pharmacology packages supporting submission.
