Before joining the EPO, Dr. Domingues completed a PhD degree in Protein Engineering at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg in collaboration with the University of Utrecht, followed by post-doctoral work. She joined the EPO in October 2000 and worked as a Patent Examiner in the Cluster of Pure and Applied Chemistry until October 2004 when she moved to the Biotechnology Cluster. In the Biotechnology Cluster shed has worked in different fields, including cloning, nucleic acid and protein-based diagnostic methods, chemical modification of biological molecules and, more recently, antibodies and vaccines. Her work consists in searching and examining international and European patent applications and in chairing opposition proceedings. She is also responsible for training less experienced colleagues.
