Mr Rob Sharp, Head of Global Airport Infrastructure & Services, QANTAS

Rob is Head of Global Airport Infrastructure & Services at Qantas Airways Ltd. He has been with Qantas for over 13 years and has responsibility for Global Airport Infrastructure & Services, accountable for Airport relationships, delivering a commercial focus to airport operational performance, infrastructure planning & development and aviation charges spend (> $1.0b annually). Responsible for domestic terminal retail operations (170 outlets > $250m turnover) and advertising, delivering retail innovation and digital advertising step change. Drove Sydney Airport transformational change agenda. Commercial achievements include successfully delivering the introduction of the Airbus A330 aircraft fleet (a $2.7b strategic transformational change program) , developing Government relationships including successfully working with US lobbyists in respect to major redevelopment activity in Los Angeles, successfully delivering the Qantas Airlines Jetstar implementation including sales launch and operations, and driving a cultural change strategy in Qantas. Rob’s career commenced in Chartered Accounting with Price Waterhouse. Rob specialised in high technology and mining. He then moved to a role as Operations Director of Hypertec Research P/L for 7 years, a rapidly growing mid-sized Australian IT company driving strategy, successfully delivering world class operations including a build-to-order PC manufacturing facility utilising robotics and built distribution across 40 countries including developing alliances. Rob’s qualifications include: • Bachelor of Business Degree, • Chartered Accountant, • Director, member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors • Director, Hallmark Aviation Services, a mid sized professional services company based in Los Angeles, USA • Associate Professor, Curtin Business School, • Member Curtin Graduate School of Business Advisory Board. • Governor, Sydney University Warren Centre for Advanced Engineering; and • Member, Advisory Board of the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals.
