| 17.15 | Roundtable: Green investments – How bright is the future?
With 11 green cities and over 140 green building projects under construction, China has incredible intentions for a green future. For a start, the government has huge ambitions to reduce buildings’ energy consumption in all Chinese cities by 50% by the end of 2010. Against a backdrop of rising energy costs and increasing awareness on global warming, it makes perfect sense to go green both from the commercial and ecological point of view. Green buildings, buildings designed for environmental sustainability, can reduce energy and water consumption by up to 70 percent. That said, are green investments poised for growth and success? How truly “green” are China’s buildings? This session examines the issues of:
- Green buildings – How will rising awareness on climate change and energy conservation impact real estate investments towards green buildings?
- How are developers and investors taking to green building and investments? Is this a sector poised for growth?
