Mr Mark Adams, Chief Executive Officer, Netcare UK
Mark was appointed CEO of Netcare UK in 2005, and has 20 years experience of healthcare in the UK. He was managing director of Denplan, the UK’s largest provider of dental payment plans, serving a third of practicing dentists. He later served as chief executive of AXA PPP healthcare, providing tailored healthcare services for over a million policyholders. More recently, he ran Blue Arrow, one of the UK’s leading specialist recruitment agencies, whose activities include the supply of locum doctors to the NHS. In addition to his responsibilities at Netcare, Mark is currently Chairman of Complete Case Management (Spinal Injury Care), a board member of the British Quality Foundation, and a trustee of Common Purpose International.

"Gary Belfield is the Head of Primary Care in the DH and has been in post for 2 years. Gary has over 20 years experience in the NHS and DH. His previous roles have included Chief Executive of a NHS Trust and the deputy CE of a Community & Mental Health NHS Trust.
As Head of Primary Care Gary is responsible for implementing policy for people with long term conditions, primary care access, NHS Direct and Out of Hours services.
In recent months Gary’s team have produced new practice based commissioning guidance and have contributed to the White Paper – A New Direction for Community Services.”

Professor Nick Bosanquet, Professor of Health Policy, Imperial College London
Nick Bosanquet is Professor of Health Policy at Imperial College, London. He is a health economist who first carried out research on NHS funding in the 1980's for the York Reports sponsored by the British Medical Association, the Royal College of Nursing and the Institute for Health Services Management. He has been Special Adviser on public expenditure to the Commons Health Committee since 2000. He is a non-Executive Director of a Primary Care Trust in London

Professor David Colin-Thome, National Clinical Director for Primary Care, Department of Health
Prof. David Colin-Thomé, OBE. David has been a GP since 1971 and is senior partner at Castlefields Health Centre Runcorn. His practice has been leading-edge nationally over the last 10 years or so, pioneering systematic management of long-term conditions employing managed care techniques. David has considerable experience in the public sector having spent eleven years as a councillor and formerly senior medical officer at the Scottish Office and Director of Primary care at North West and London Regional offices. He also has been on many overseas advisory visits specialising in primary care development.
He publishes regularly on primary care reform and is now National Primary Care Clinical Director for the Department of Health in England. (2001-present). Dr Ian Denley, Chief Executive, System C Healthcare
Ian has been with System C since it first entered the healthcare market, and is responsible for the overall operational direction of the company. Ian previously worked as Director of Development, where he was responsible for the strategic direction of the MedWay product range, and latterly as Director of Operations where he was responsible for the company's implementation and customer support services. He is an expert in the field of usability engineering, and an acknowledged authority on the security and privacy of patient data. Previously a UK academic, Ian spent five years as part of a multi-national industrial collaboration into multi-media broadband communication technologies.

Dr Mo Dewji, Clincial Director Primary Care Contracting, National Primary Care Development Team
Mo is a partner and trainer in an 8 doctor urban practice in Milton Keynes. He was the PCG and then PEC chair of MKPCT prior to his appointment as the Head of the National PMS Development Team. He is now the Clinical Director of Primary Care Contracting and is actively involved in the development of new commissioning models and opportunities. He acted as an advisor to the development of the Diabetes NSF and was one of the founder members of the National Resource Framework Group. His clinical interests lie in Paediatrics; this is just as well as outside work apart from golf and running, compulsory babysitting keeps him busy!

Dr Günter Dombrowe, Managing Director, Siemens Medical Solutions
Guenter Dombrowe is responsible for the healthcare activities of Siemens in the UK. He also chairs Siemens Medical Solutions’ North West Europe regional management board.
Originally joining Siemens as a systems specialist for computer applications in medicine, Guenter came to Siemens in the UK in 1978, to set up the company’s CT business.
Following promotion to General Manager for cross sectional imaging products, he then spent several years in Canada as Vice President of Siemens Electric with responsibility for the Medical Systems Division.
Returning to the UK in 1994, Guenter has been chairman of AXREM, the UK trade association of X-ray manufacturers, and is currently President of the British Institute of Radiology.
Guenter obtained a masters degree in electronic engineering from Darmstadt Technische Hochschule.

Mr Tim Elsigood, Managing Director, Alliance Medical
Tim Elsigood joined the company from the Independent Healthcare Forum, that represents the majority of independent healthcare providers, where he was Executive Director.
He began his healthcare career in the NHS, spending more than 15 years in a variety of management positions. He joined Community Hospitals Group in 1993 (now Capio Healthcare) as a Hospital Manager at the Fitzwilliam Hospital, Peterborough.
He became Director of Operations for the Group in 1996 and Chief Executive of all Capio’s UK business after the takeover in 2001. During his time with Capio, Tim Elsigood was also involved in the implementation of their growth strategy in Europe, particularly in France.

Dr Glyn Hayes, Chairman, BSC Health Informatics Forum
Dr Glyn Hayes, a medical practitioner who, although now retired, has been a GP in Worcester for 25 years. He has been involved with Health Informatics since the late 70s when he designed one of first consulting room GP computer systems. He is a founder member of the Primary Health Care Specialist Group of the BCS, was its Chair from 1985 to 1990 and is currently its President. He became the Medical Director for one of the largest suppliers of IT to the NHS in 1992 and retired from this post in 2001. He has represented the UK on the International Medical Informatics Association and was the chair of the Primary Care working Group of IMIA. He has lectured widely around the world and been a keynote speaker at many international conferences. A Fellow of the BCS he is married with three grown up children. He is currently Chair of the British Computer Society’s Health Informatics Forum. His informatics interests include making systems which clinicians want to use, improving individual patient care by the application of IT and developing Health Informatics into a substantive profession. Recently he has been a founder member and currently President of the UK Council for Health Informatics Professions. Colin Jervis is Director of Healthcare and Public Sector Consulting with Kinetic Consulting. He has 20 years of health care and public sector experience, including leading three major Electronic Patient Record programmes in the NHS. One of them was part of a hospital process redesign and informed the developing NHS National Programme for IT (NPfIT). Drawing on that experience, he helps clients to innovate, reduce risk, redesign operational processes and save money.
At a major management consultancy, Colin worked in a IT Innovation unit and played a major part in developing a prize-winning innovation magazine.
He has an MBA and a MSc in Business Systems Analysis and Design and is regularly published and quoted in healthcare media and the national press. He also writes a popular health weblog: Future Health IT.

Dr James Kingsland, Chairman, National Association of Primary Care
James was appointed Chairman of the National Association of Primary Care in September 2004, having served as a member of the executive since the NAPC’s inception. He has a wealth of experience in General practice, medical education and medical politics.
He has been in practice since 1989 and is now the senior partner in a Personal Medical Services partnership in Wallasey. His practice has won numerous awards for clinical excellence and was in the early waves of fundholding and a first wave PMS plus site.
Between 1999 to 2002 he worked part time as a GP advisor to the Department of Health and was instrumental in the development and implementation of PMS policy and Walk-in Centres. He is now a member of the Department of Health’s National Leadership Network.
He has been a GP trainer for 14 years and is an undergraduate tutor for the medical schools of Liverpool and University College London.
He served for 10 years on Wirral LMC, has been a member of the General Practice Committee of the BMA and for 3 years chaired its PMS sub-committee, and was formerly the Vice Chair of a Health Authority.

Dr Tom Mann, Chief Executive Officer, Capio Healthcare UK
Tom Mann joined Capio Healthcare as the UK Chief Executive in July 2005. Capio is a major private healthcare provider in the UK, with 21 acute hospitals. It is also the largest independent sector provider to the NHS in England.
Tom qualified as a GP and worked for nine years as a Principal before joining the Department of Health as a senior civil servant in 1989. In 1996 he became Regional Director of Performance for the North West Region of the NHS and then Chief Executive of Bolton & Wigan Health Authority. In November 2002 he returned to the Department of Health to work on the Independent Sector Treatment Centre Programme (ISTCs). This included a spell as Director of the National Implementation Team for ISTCs between May and October 2003. In February of 2004 he left the Department of Health and set up his own consulting company (DHF Ltd).

Mark has over 25 years clinical, managerial and executive experience in the NHS. His includes a background in acute nursing, operational management and Chief Executive roles.
He has served on the boards of three NHS Trusts, and oversaw a major first wave PFI project. At Southampton University Hospitals he was Deputy Chief Executive/Director of Operations. At Portsmouth he was appointed Chief Executive before leaving the NHS to head up the health division of Amey Plc. He led the Mercury Health bid for the Independent Sector DTC project.

Donald F. Sweete is Alliance Executive – Atlantic Region and National Alliance Executive for Infoway, responsible for all public and private sector relations within the Atlantic Region and coordination of the Alliance Executive Team Nationally.
Mr. Sweete has nearly 20 years of experience in the Canadian healthcare sector in senior management . For over a decade, he served in positions of increasing responsibility with the Nova Scotia Department of Health, including six years as Executive Director of Corporate Services. In this role, he was accountable for planning, policy formulation and operational management of financial services, administrative operations and support, human resource services, and information management and technology services. During his tenure with the province he was the corporate resource of government who lead the changes to the departmental restructuring of government, reform of the Workers Compensation Board, and the development of the labour adjustment strategy and the provincial Information Technology strategy for the health care sector in Nova Scotia.
In the private sector, Mr. Sweete held senior executive positions in the Canadian healthcare areas of several IT services, software and solutions providers, including SHL Systemhouse, Siemens Canada, and Cerner Corporation.

Heather Wicks qualified as an orthoptist in 1988 and worked in several orthoptic services within England as clinical practitioner, educator and clinical specialist before becoming Head of Oxfordshire Orthoptic Service in 1998.
Since 2002, Heather has worked in a variety of corporate roles within the Health Service as Head of Clinical Effectiveness in Oxford, for the Modernisation Agency within the Practitioners with Special Interests Team and, currently, as Head of Service Redesign and Commissioning at Oxford City PCT and Professional Advisor in Orthoptics to the Department of Health.
Heather also works independently as a personal development coach both with NHS healthcare professionals and outside the NHS as well as retaining some clinical work as an orthoptist.
