Asruddin bin Abas is currently a principal at SMK St. Thomas Kuantan Pahang. He has been a principal since 2006. Prior to this school he was a principal of SMK Selancar, Rompin, SMK Chini Timur ,Pekan and SMK Seri Damai Kuantan.
He started his career as an English teacher at SMK Jengka21, and later as head of English Panel at SMK Bukit Goh and also subsequently Head of Language Department at the same school. In 2006 he became a principal and introduced PrOD ( School Improvement Programme through Organizational Development) in all the schools that he led. He has presented a few papers at international and national level on this topic.
He is highly involved in the internationalprogrammes at his school since 2011. The collaboration in e-tutor programme with RMIT, At Taqwa College, Hazel Glen College, Concord and Colac secondary schools in Melbourne Australia has been going on in such progress that benefitted all parties. The participation in Eratosthenes project with France, the GSP project with USA and also Singapore since 2010 exposed his ability to lead, manage and cooperate with everybody. Besides that the school is successful in the sports and co-curricular activities. He attributed all these to all the teachers, students, staffs and parents and the society around St Thomas Secondary School. With the motto “Strive for Excellence”, he wants to do his best to help development the nation and future generations, through education.
