James is currently the Director of IT at United Learning, a group of 86 schools, and has worked in schools both as a teacher (Maths and ICT) as well as manager of networks. He joined United Learning as Director of ICT at Surbiton High School in 2002 and went onto work on large scale procurement for new academies in the Group. In recent years he has led teams supporting the effective use of technology in the classroom and and ensuring schools have reliable systems. He is currently leading on a project which has the aim of moving school server infrastructure into the Cloud; making use of the functionality of tools like Office365 to support staff and students be more effective in their use of technology and help support improving student outcomes. The current pandemic has accelerated this with extensive use of Teams for live teaching.
