Matt Bowden – Director of Operations at Red Penguin Marine. Matt is Director of Operations at Red Penguin Marine, providing support and strategic guidance to the global submarine cable sector. The company assists clients in managing risk across all stages of submarine interconnectors, offshore grids, renewable energy export cables (including Offshore Wind), and submarine telecommunications systems. Matt actively engages with key stakeholders on critical infrastructure and resilience topics, and serves on several European Subsea Cables Association and International Cable Protection Committee working groups. He is also a founding member of the UK Government's Subsea Cables Communications Industry Group and chairs the Global Maritime Advisory Board for the CH!RP Charity. With 26 years in the Royal Navy specialising in Communications and Information Warfare, Matt exercised command both at sea and in a Joint Operational HQ ashore and brings significant leadership experience to his role. He now resides in Winchester with his family, enjoys regular walks in search of small white balls and when time allows is still a sailor. He is privileged to serve as Captain of the James Bond Golf Society, a charitable organisation supporting families and children.
