Fabio Maurizio spent his formative years in southern Graubünden, a region renowned for its scenic mountainous landscape and cultural diversity, where Italian, German and Romansh languages coexist. He completed his physics studies at ETH Zurich and EPF Lausanne, with a master's thesis at the PV Lab in Neuchâtel. He has several years of experience in developing thin-film solar cells (Flisom AG) and also has experience as a project and division manager for example at dhp technology AG (solar folding roof). The shift in the energy system towards fossil-free sources has a significant impact on both his professional and personal life. Since summer 2023, he has been working as a project manager for PV power plants at Repower AG in Landquart. He successfully led both the Vorab project near Laax and the Madrisa Solar project near Klosters to building approval. This was only possible thanks to dedicated and competent project teams. The Madrisa Solar project is already in the implementation phase and has been feeding important winter electricity into the grid since the end of September 2025, in accordance with the original specifications of the “Solarexpress”. Fabio Maurizio will report on the achievements and challenges of the two alpine PV projects.
