John Anis graduated from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 1991, earning a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. With over 30 years of international experience in the oil & gas industry from upstream to downstream operation. He has led strategic operations and development activities in various regions and multicultural environments, with a key focus on safety (HSE), people development, value creation and performance excellence. His career started in 1992 at Schlumberger as a Wire Line and Logging Field Engineer. He joined Total E&P Indonesie in 1996 and took various positions in many countries including Japan, France, and Yemen (Yemen LNG) while. His exceptional performance and achievements were recognized with various leadership positions. in 2013, John was appointed Vice President of Field Operations, managing the production of Mahakam Field, Indonesia's largest gas producing asset. in January 2018, he became Executive Vice President Operations & Regional Manager of East Kalimantan at Total E&P Indonesie. on April 1, 2018, he was named General Manager of PT Pertamina Hulu Mahakam, and since then John Anis has held the top positions in Pertamina, as President Director at Pertamina International EP and Chairman of Maurel & Prom from June 2020 – May 2023, and President Director at PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia from May 22, 2023 to February 2024. John Anis was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Pertamina New & Renewable Energy since February 2024, bringing his vast knowledge and diverse experience to lead Pertamina’s energy transition.
