Omar Halabieh is the Head of Technology at Amazon Payment Services. An award-winning IT strategist, Omar leverages technology as a key differentiator to create competitive advantage, drive business growth, improve operating efficiencies, exceed customer expectations, and transform global organizations.

A forward-thinking problem-solver skilled in both long-range strategic initiatives and tactical crises, Omar boasts a broad experience base across a diverse range of disciplines, including IT Strategy Planning & Execution, Technology Operations Management, Large-Scale Lifecycle Project Management, Enterprise Application Integration, Infrastructure Deployment, and Corporate Systems & Software Development.

Omar joined Amazon in 2015 as a Senior Technical Program Manager and has since progressed to the role of Head of Technology, delivering transformational, business-enabling initiatives with speed and agility.

Prior to joining Amazon, Omar spent seven years as an IT Manager with Direct Energy, a leading North American energy services provider, where he led teams in delivering numerous key IT solutions for the company.  As the IT Manager for Digital Marketing, Omar leveraged technology to create several key, new revenue streams worth millions of dollars for the business unit, before being promoted to build and lead a team in designing, developing, and managing a decision-support application and tools for the front-office trading group.

Omar holds a Bachelor of Science on Computer Science from McMaster University of Hamilton, Ontario, and a Master of Science from the University of Waterloo, Ontario.
