Optical Systems Design (OSD) is an Australian designer and manufacturer supplying local and international markets with highly reliable rugged industrial communication products for use in harsh and critical environments.

Established in 1987 the company grew quickly to become a leader in the transmission of video, data and audio over optical fiber.  In 2006 OSD started manufacturing Industrial Ethernet Media Converters as Ethernet networks and IP cameras become more prevalent.  Today OSD has a large range of Industrial Ethernet products ranging from a micro Media Conveter to a 10Gb, 28 port Layer 3 Switch.  Communication over optical fiber continues to be at the heart of OSD and almost every product has an optical fiber port option.

Whilst embracing current and emerging communication protocols OSD continues to support a range of products originally designed in the last millennium.  Products supporting the transmission of serial data, analogue video, uncompressed audio and PSTN telephone calls over optical fiber are readily available.  Specialist equipment used in railway signalling is also available and being further developed.

OSD products are designed for reliability and flexibility.  Our in-house Australian engineering team can modify an existing product or create a custom solution to meet customer’s needs.

Whether being used on railway platforms in Melbourne, in remote operated submersibles in the North Sea, on ring roads in Hyderabad or at a remote mine site in Western Australia, OSD products provide reliable and trustworthy solutions.
