Chris Stallman, Managing Partner, Fontinalis Partners

Chris has spent his career working with both emerging companies and large incumbents in the venture and mobility ecosystems. He is particularly interested in innovators that are reshaping large industries, and he enjoys lending his experience to support founders operating across such areas as supply chain transformation, enterprise software, data & analytics, digital infrastructure, and AI & automation. Chris currently serves on the board of directors of two Fontinalis portfolio companies, Chain.io and FreightWaves, and is a board observer for Highland Electric Fleets and Karamba Security. Chris previously served on the board of directors of TransLoc (acquired by Ford Smart Mobility) and as a board observer of Synovia Solutions (acquired by CalAmp). He has also worked closely with many of the firm’s other investments, including Telogis (acquired by Verizon), Postmates (acquired by Uber), and Turo. Chris is active throughout the venture community and serves on the oversight committee for the MTRAC Innovation Hub for Advanced Transportation—a statewide Michigan program that funds translational research at the university level. He is also an active member of the Michigan Venture Capital Association, and he currently serves on the membership committee. Prior to joining Fontinalis in 2011, Chris spent five years at Stout, a leading independent advisory firm that provides investment banking, transaction advisory, valuation, and a variety of specialty services. While at Stout, he served many industrial and automotive clients and played an important role in advising private equity and venture capital clients on a variety of transaction, tax, and financial reporting matters. He also briefly worked on the private capital team at the University of Michigan’s investment office. Chris earned his Bachelor of Business Administration (with distinction) from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and is a CFA charterholder. He lives in Plymouth, Michigan with his wife and son.
