The main objectives of Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane include providing certainty regarding the execution of infrastructure works, promoting multimodal collective transport, increasing freight transport, and improving energy autonomy. With over 96,000 employees, FS is a leader in passenger and freight rail transport. The railway infrastructure runs for about 17,000 kilometres, with 1,000 kilometres dedicated to high-speed services. The FS Group also operates a road network of about 32,000 km.
