As Heraclitus once said; There is nothing permanent except change. Clearly the global energy mix needs to change to prevent the one change we do not need, climate change.
After 25 years working with Schlumberger in the upstream oil and gas industry in functions as field engineer, project, engineering and operations manager, Wietse made his own transition in 2017 to renewable energy with a focus on Green Hydrogen. His first involvement in green hydrogen was a 1MW pilot project in 2017 and 2018 in the Netherlands. Since then, he has designed and managed a range of green hydrogen projects such fuelling stations, hydrogen production, storage and logistics, ship bunkering etc. On behalf of a developer he designed a Full-Value Chain 80MW electrolysis hydrogen project in North-eastern Spain. The project was awarded a significant grant from the Spanish federal government.
Currently Wietse is the Green Hydrogen Subject Matter Expert Middle East at Atkins based in Abu Dhabi. In this role he is involved in all aspects of the evolving hydrogen market such as business development, consultancy, project design, techno-economics, and project front-end loading.
