GEIDCO

Dr. Kaifeng Yu was born in Nanjing, China, 1987. He is a Senior Environmental Engineer, and Senior Manager on grid interconnection at the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization (GEIDCO). His expertise includes environment, climate change, and energy & resources research in China, African and MENA countries.
GEIDCO is a non-profit NGO, initiated by the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), with HQ in Beijing and 7 regional offices around the globe. At GEIDCO, he is leading the West Asia Office, working on projects including energy cooperation, low-carbon energy solutions, environment and sustainable development in West Asian countries, and cooperation with government ministries, international organizations, research institutes, energy companies, financing parties, and think-tanks.
Before joining GEIDCO, Kaifeng was a research fellow at RWTH Aachen, and the Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), dealing with Geographic Information System & Remote Sensing techniques, and hydro-resources in the arid realm, and has wrote a list of over 10 peer-reviewed SCI & EI journal articles etc. He has consulted for UN Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), and gave lectures in an array of universities and international conferences on sustainable development and global climate change.
Kaifeng holds a doctorate in natural sciences from the RWTH Aachen, and is a Senior Engineer in environmental protection from the SGCC. He has more than 10 years professional experiences in China, Germany, Ethiopia, United Arab Emirates, and is fluent in German, English and Chinese.
