Sewela Makgolane is a corporate communications consultant, with a focus on the mining and energy industries. She is the Founder and Lead Consultant of Mettle SA, a consultancy offering strategic communications, public relations, stakeholder engagement and branding services for industrial sectors. Sewela guides clients in crafting messaging and coordinating activities that effectively communicate their value proposition to diverse stakeholder groups. Notably, she was part of the team that led the communications of a global association mandated to advocate for the use of vanadium based energy storage batteries (VRFBs). Through this experience, she gained understanding that the energy transition conversation must be held in tandem to the critical minerals needed to make energy storage solutions viable. Additionally, she has served as the PR and Investor Relations consultant for a London Stock Exchange listed diversified energy group. She rolled out a communications campaign that sought to educate the UK market on alternative energy sources, such a renewable energy and gas fired power plants. Sewela continues to play a vital role in shaping the conversation around the energy generation value chain. Currently, Mettle SA is the appointed PR consultancy for clients in coal mining, privately owned natural gas utility and manufactures of electrical components used in transformers.
