Frank Spencer, Regional Director for Southern Africa, Cainmani

Frank Spencer is a well know Renewable Energy personality in the Southern African Renewable Energy Space. He currently heads up Cainmani’s South Africa business, where he leads on the development of Greenfields Utility-Scale Renewables Power Projects. 
With a Master’s Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering and a Philosophy degree in Sustainable development, he is passionate about addressing the multi-faceted challenges of Climate Change, Rural Electrification and Poverty in Africa, as well as the electricity changes closer to home in South Africa. He built his first solar project while still at school, his first commercial grid-tied solar project in 2002, and his first off-grid community solar-wind-battery plant in 2003. Since then, he has been active across all aspects of Renewables projects, from manufacturing, to project EPC, to finance and business development, across the African continent. 
He is also a Manco member of SAPIVA, where he was involved in the initial design and setup of SAPVIA’s Green Card programme for solar PV installers, as well as the writing of SANS and NRS standards for solar PV installations.
