CharIN

Association Partner

CharIN is a global, non-profit association founded in 2015 with over 300 members worldwide.

It’s driving the global standardization of EV charging and brings together EV manufacturers (land, sea, air transport), charging station manufacturers, energy providers, grid operators, and other stakeholders to promote standardized, interoperable charging solutions for E-Mobility.

Our Core Focus point:

Interoperability —Ensure EVs, chargers, and backend systems from different manufacturers work seamlessly together, regardless of brand or region. This includes rigorous conformance testing and certification programs.

Developed the CCS (Combined Charging System) & MCS (Megawatt Charging System) which enables ultra-high-power charging (up to 6 megawatts) and is designed as a single global connector standard, for trucks, mining equipment ships, ferries, VTOL and other large applications.

PnC (Plug & Charge) — Allows users to simply plug in the EV — authentication, authorization, and billing happens automatically via ISO 15118 encrypted communication, without apps or cards.

V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) — Bidirectional charging technology that lets EVs send energy back to the grid. CharIN actively advances V2G through ISO 15118-20 standards, supporting smart charging, grid stability, VPP and renewable energy integration.
