Ms Nomawethu Qase (Noma) is the Director responsible for renewable energy at the Department of Electricity & Energy (DEE). Her principal responsibility is to guarantee the seamless integration of renewable energy into the mainstream energy supply by identifying, planning, and coordinating strategic interventions. During her tenure, she has effectively collaborated with local and international stakeholders to champion renewable energy deployment in South Africa through strategic policy interventions and government-led programmes. She is currently the Project Leader of the South African Renewable Energy Masterplan (SAREM) at the DEE. This pivotal project is a collaborative effort involving the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition, the Department of Science, Technology and Innovation; Industry; Labour; and Civil society representatives.
