Etienne is a strong conceptual thinker who has 30 years of experience in the energy industry. He is an engineer and financier with experience working on the interfaces of business, technology and finance. Etienne is a co-founder of Renew-e which specializes in renewable power, electricity trading, BESS and PPPs. He provides techno-commercial and M&A advisory services in support of the ‘Just Energy Transition’. He has 20 years’ of experience with Sasol where he had a variety of roles including being appointed Head of M&A at the age of 35 years, and Sasol’s Chief Commercial Advisor for its international synfuels operations. He is a Management Committee member of SAIPPA (South African IPP Association). Etienne advised the IPP-Office for REIPPP Bid Window 6 and advocates for the need liberalise the electricity sector, promoting wheeling and electricity trading, and the rollout of BESS
