My name is Sofia Pereira and I have been a kindergarten teacher for 8 years, currently at St Peter’s School, in a room with 4-year-old children. Being an educator has always been part of my essence, as I have always wanted to work with children, deepening their interests, their games, curiosities, and behaviors.
During the last few years, education has undergone a profound change parallel to the digital revolution, demonstrating a new reality in classrooms. With the emergence of EdTech, many tools and applications were developed and included in the daily lives of students and teachers, with digital devices gaining recognition as important teaching and learning tools.
Technology opens a world of resources and learning opportunities that were previously inaccessible. They generate learning environments in line with the current era, facilitating digital immersion, allowing for more personalized teaching, facilitating access to more diverse information, increasing children's motivation, and enabling more experiential and practice-based training.
We will show how technology can enhance learning and engage children, while also addressing concerns about screen time and digital safety. Through interactive discussions and real-world examples, participants will learn about the latest trends and best practices for incorporating technology into early childhood education. The examination of the role of educators in supporting children's development in a digital world and the importance of parent-teacher collaboration, will be explored as well. By the end of this session, attendees will be equipped with the knowledge and tools to effectively integrate EdTech into their early childhood education programs.
