Biom Biotech Cluster Development

BioM is the non-profit networking organisation for biotechnology in Munich and Bavaria. The cluster management brings together regional SMEs, scientists, industry partners, investors and other relevant stakeholders, either national or international.
The experienced team offers comprehensive support for founders in medical biotechnology. There are specialised coaching, training, and mentoring services as well as networking events for the start-up scene, constituting a “virtual biotech incubator” for projects in the early stages of company foundation.
The German Excellence Initiative and the national top cluster competition have proved it: Bavaria is the leading region in terms of excellent basic research as well as applied research and development - in biotechnology and the life sciences in general. Today, Bavarian researchers are leading on a national and European level and in specific areas at universities and Max Planck Institutes as well as at large research organizations such as Helmholtz centers and the Fraunhofer institutes.
The regional focus is ‘personalized healthcare’, where BioM fosters collaboration in medical research, clinical development and drug and diagnostics production; i.e. production of antibodies by Roche in Europe’s largest production facility in Penzberg (6,000 employees). The Bavarian players are also active in new sectors from immune- and genetherapy to regenerative medicine and using advanced technologies like induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS) in drug development.

The World Advanced Therapies and Regenerative Medicine Congress and Exhibition is an international conference and exhibition featuring the latest in advanced therapies, bioengineering and surrounding technology. To attend the conference which features global leaders in the biopharma and regenerative medicine industries, there is a registration fee. The exhibition is free to visit.
