Funded by UK government, the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) is the clinical research delivery arm of the National Health Service (NHS) in England.
We support rapid study set-up and patient recruitment into all phases of clinical research studies, across all therapeutic areas. We’ve recruited over three million patients into clinical studies in the NHS over the last five years and created a thriving environment for conducting large scale commercial contract clinical research, so that companies can allocate clinical studies to the UK with confidence.
Last financial year:
we recruited patients into more than 1100 different commercial contract studies
we recruited over 50,000 patients, in total, into commercial contract studies
74% of the studies achieved 100% of their recruitment target within their planned timescales.
At the core of these successes is our Study Support Service - a package of free-of-charge services covering the life cycle of a clinical study including feasibility, set-up, costings and contracts, and performance monitoring to enable recruitment to agreed time and target.
