Ian Henshaw, Global Head of Biogen’s Biosimilars Unit, Biogen

Business Operations and Alliance Management for the BBU as well as be the Chief of Staff for the leadership team. Ian brings nearly 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Prior to joining Biogen, Ian was at The Medicines Company for more than six years where his most recent role was as Vice President and Head of Strategy and Business Development (Europe, Middle East, Africa, and Russia). Prior to that, he was Global Franchise Leader and Vice President for the company’s Neurocritical Care division. He also held the role of Vice President and Global Head of Emerging Markets where he set up The Medicines Company’s operations in Brazil, Russia, India, China, Turkey, Poland and Middle East. In this role, he also led alliance management activities for Spain, Greece, Australia, Canada, Israel, Middle East, Latin America and Russia and was founder and director of the company’s India joint venture. Ian was at Lilly for 13 years in their European Operations in various marketing and sales leadership roles. He has an MBA from Cranfield School of Management and a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical and Process Engineering from Newcastle University. He is qualified as a Chartered Engineer.
