Wolfgang Strobel has focused for more than 20 years on bridging the latest technology with modern banking. He headed HVB Group’s project for a transition in 2000, steering its tech investment portfolio during the internet hype early last century. Strobel was also responsible as COO of leading online broker, DAB bank, for the change of its core banking system to a 24/7 online service and expanded the digital model of Fidor bank to mobile industry while leading Fidor into the partnership with French G-SIFI BCPE to boost international growth. Finally, he is now about to digitalize businesses and processes of traditional wealth managing private bank, Hauck und Aufhäuser AG, as CFO/CRO/COO, powered by a Chinese shareholder.
Acting in parallel as corporate strategist, Wolfgang created new superior business models and turned improvable ones into the future. As HVB Group’s Head of Corporate Development and M&A, he led the formation of the “First Truly European Bank” (UniCredit/ HVB), and negotiated the €22bn-transaction and developed the global business combination model. He also ran the successful turn-around of German mutual funds administration platform “FondsServiceBank”. As member of UniCredit’s global ExCo “Private Banking & Asset Management” and UniCredit Group’s Head of Strategic M&A, he formed a harmonized European Private Banking model across UniCredit’s markets and, subsequently, streamlined HVB’s German credit risk management.
Wolfgang consequently emphasizes solutions to be ‘lean – fast – easy’, to create both a maximum of user convenience and highly efficient processing in all kinds of businesses. He also drives his academic background at Harvard Business School and University of Coburg where he has served for more than 15 years as a professor in MBA programs.
