Dr Francesco Berlanda Scorza, Scientific Director of Influenza Vaccine Project, P.A.T.H.

Dr. Berlanda-Scorza is an expert in vaccine development with over 10 years’ experience in research and development in the vaccine industry at Chiron Corporation and Novartis Vaccines. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Milan and did his post doctoral studies at Imperial College London, CMMI. During his career in the industry, Dr. Berlanda-Scorza contributed to the development of bacterial and viral vaccines, including cell cultured influenza vaccines, a RNA vaccine (SAM), recombinant proteins and purified Outer Membrane Vesicles vaccines (GMMA).
 
Dr. Berlanda-Scorza joined PATH in 2014 and currently directs projects sponsored by BARDA and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to develop sustainable production of high-quality influenza vaccines in developing countries and to advance new technologies including vaccines with potential for universal protection against influenza.
