Danny Bates, Chief Commercial Officer And Co-Founder, STARZ PLAY

Danny brings more than 20 years’ experience to his role as CCO at STARZ PLAY, having spent the past two decades working in the EMEA region’s Satellite Pay TV and Energy sectors. With the ability to conceptualize and think laterally, Danny introduces fresh ideas and defines, develops and implements strategies that are designed to deliver excellent operational service while increasing market share. 

Prior to joining STARZ PLAY, Danny held the position of SVP Sales at OSN, where he was responsible for the group’s overall revenue and sales in the MENA region. In the years spent at OSN Danny held a number of roles including VP Customer Service & Operations, where he oversaw customer service, retention, customer operations, project management, analysis and planning.

Before joining OSN Danny worked in the UK’s deregulated retail energy market. Danny first worked for Calortex —a group that was subsequently purchased by npower — and during his nine years with the company their customer base expanded from 50,000 to seven million homes. He held a number of key analytical positions within the group, including Commercial & Forecasting Manager where he was responsible for planning and analytical services.
A Co-Founder of STARZ PLAY, Danny took the role of CCO in 2015. He oversees the Marketing department, making sure that his team identifies and executes the services that customers actually want or need. Danny also heads the Product and Business Development departments, where he shares his innate understanding of the product while planning and coordinating the implementation of business plans and the penetration of new markets.

Danny is originally from the UK, married and has three kids. He lives in Dubai.
