Nir Kugel, a civil engineer, graduated from the Technion Technology Institute in 1999. Nir acquired his professional experience at the transportation infrastructure design office, where he was responsible for the design and advancement of roads and interchanges, including the first toll road in Israel and an airport in the south of Israel.
Between 2009-2014, Nir headed the design at Netivei Israel National Transport Infrastructure Company, a government organization responsible for the interurban road network; he led the design of complex projects, including the upgrading of Highway 1 at the entrance to Jerusalem, the Haifa bypass road, and the advancement of the complex Highway 531 project in the northern part of Tel Aviv metropolitan. From 2014, Nir has managed the design division of NTA– Tel Aviv Metropolitan Mass Transit System Ltd., responsible for designing a mass transit system, including Red (LRT) line that is currently under construction, two additional LRT lines and a system of metro lines, currently in the design stage.
