Since December 2017, Mark Davis has worked as General Manager of the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), London’s driverless railway which helped kick-start regeneration across east and south east London.
 
Having joined Transport for London (TfL) in 2007, Mark led the successful £700 million refranchising of the DLR in 2014, cultivating a collaborative business relationship with the appointed franchisee, KeolisAmey Docklands (KAD). Under this contract, TfL set the specifications for train frequency and performance while KAD operates the stations and maintains much of the network. As General Manager, Mark is responsible for managing this relationship, as well as all commercial and upgrade projects across the DLR, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2017. The DLR’s performance and reliability is regularly amongst the best in the UK, and carries over 122 million passengers per year.
 
Prior to working at TfL, Mark gained experience of franchise management in his role at the Department for Transport and the Strategic Rail Authority. In the run up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Mark also worked on the extension of the DLR to Stratford International station, which served the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and carried up to 500,000 passengers on its busiest days.
