Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation

Kumar Keshav, Managing Director, Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation is leading a team of professionals for implementation of 23 Km long partly elevated and partly underground Phase-1 North South Corridor of Metro Project in Lucknow, the capital city of the largest State Uttar Pradesh in India in a very strict time frame.
 
Kumar Keshav is an officer originally belonging to Indian Railway Service of Engineers and is a Gold-medalist Post-graduate engineer from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and Bachelor of Engineering from University of Roorkee, India. He took over as the Managing Director of Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation in August, 2014.
Prior to that, he had a long tenure of more than ten years in Delhi Metro Rail Corporation and contributed immensely in successful implementation of Phase-I and Phase-II of Delhi Metro project since initial years. As Director (Projects & Planning) of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, he held the prestige of the nation high during the XIXth Commonwealth Games, 2010 when he commissioned the Central Secretariat -Badarpur Metro corridor on 3rd October, 2010 – just on the day of the start of the Commonwealth Games - when approximately 70,000 public travelled by Delhi Metro to reach the main venue of the global sporting extravaganza - the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. He also has to his credit construction of first Standard Gauge Metro Corridor in the Country namely Indralok-Mundka corridor for Delhi Metro with all associated technologies of ballastless track, turnouts etc.
He has also undertakena very prestigious international Heavy Haul Rail Project in Queensland, Australia for Hancock Coal Pty Limited, Brisbane as Project Director- Rail from June’12 to August'14. As Project Director- Rail, he lead the definition of the project scope, design basis, project scheduling for USD 3.3 Billion 510 kilometer long heavy-haul standard gauge rail corridor from Mine to Port for Alpha Coal project in Australia and designed the implementation strategy, cost estimation and procurement packages for EPC contract with international firms.
 
As regards Lucknow Metro, it is a Dream Project of the people of Uttar Pradesh which is being realised by him. Under his dynamic leadership, Lucknow Metro has achieved the distinction of being the fastest Metro project implementation that has ever happened in the Country by commencing revenue operation on Priority Section on 5th September, 2017 in a period of less than three years. Even contemporary Metro projects in the country have also not been able to match up with the speed of deliverance in the country as compared with LMRC's strength in project execution.
His initiatives in developing a highly motivating team of engineers working for the project with inspiration and guidance through innovative ideas for completing the project in a very compressed time-frame are being very well recognised.
Lucknow Metro has already received many National and International awards such as:

  1. ‘International Quality Summit (IQS) Award 2016’ under Gold Category by Business Initiative Directions (BID) Group One, Madrid, Spain in May 2016
  2. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Award on Innovation in Governance, Oct 2016
  3. Awarded with the European Society for Quality Research (ESQR) Choice Prize Award 2016 under the Gold category, Dec 2016 in Berlin, Germany.
