Christiane Gerke, Head Of Vaccine Programs, Institut Pasteur

Christiane Gerke, PhD, is the Head of Vaccine Programs at Institut Pasteur, Paris, France, supporting vaccine-related projects from basic research to early clinical development and partnerships. Her aim is to build a strategic transversal and integrative vaccine program across the Institut Pasteur International Network. Christiane joined Institut Pasteur in July 2015 after seven years as Shigella Project Leader at Novartis Vaccines Institute for Global Health (now part of GSK) during which time she led the development of a novel technology, called GMMA, took the GMMA vaccine candidate against shigellosis from the bench to first in human clinical studies, and then oversaw and coordinated as Technology Platform Leader new vaccine projects based on this technology. Christiane received her PhD in Microbial Genetics from the University of Tübingen, Germany, and trained as post doc at Stanford University, CA, USA, with focus on immunology and hostpathogen interactions.
