Dr. Christoph Egle is the Managing Director at the Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt). In this function, he enables the financing and implementation of interdisciplinary research projects and the communication of their results to various stakeholders. As an institute of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities, the bidt contributes to a better understanding of the developments and challenges in digital transformation. In doing so, it lays the foundations to shape the digital future in dialogue with society responsibly and for the common good. The bidt conducts interdisciplinary research and provides science-based information and advice for central developments in digital transformation in Bavaria, Germany and Europe. Having held various positions in political science research at the Universities of Heidelberg, Frankfurt/Main and LMU Munich, Dr. Egle has switched to scientific policy advice and science management. At the German National Academy of Science and Engineering (acatech), he headed the Federal Government’s Innovation Dialogue office until 2018. Thereafter, he was head of the department for digital technologies in the Bavarian State Chancellery and the State Ministry for Digital Affairs before joining the bidt in June 2019.
