Sándor Szalma is Global Head of Genetics and Systems Biology in Takeda Pharmaceuticals. He is heading a team of human geneticists, computational biologists, and machine learning experts carrying out genomic natural history, genetic epidemiology and genotype-phenotype relationship studies, target de-risking, disease and patient stratification modeling, and therapeutic modality support including in silico liability prediction and OMICS computational analysis. Prior to joining Takeda, he held positions in data science and informatics in Janssen/J&J. After postdoctoral positions in Syracuse University and J.W. Goethe Universität, Frankfurt, he worked at Biosym/MSI/Accelrys. He is the author of more than 50 scientific publications and two patents. He received his doctoral degree in physical organic chemistry from A. Szent-Györgyi Medical University in Szeged, Hungary.
