Geert Fijnaut, Manager, FMO Energy Asia

Geert Fijnaut is a finance professional who has more than 15 years of banking experience of which around 10 years in project finance of mostly renewable energy projects. Geert is currently manager of the Asia-ECA team within the Energy Department of FMO, the Dutch Development Bank. He joined FMO in 2016 with a special focus on corporate and project finance in the energy sector in the Asia region. Since then he has worked successfully on various corporate and project finance deals for solar project developers where he has advocated the use of loans in local currency wherever possible. Before joining FMO, Geert has worked for ASN Bank and ABN AMRO Bank where, while at ASN Bank, he was leading the deal team that, in a consortium with other banks, did one of the first non-recourse project financings of offshore wind projects in the North Sea. Geert has a law degree from Leiden University and has studied in the United States.
