Mikhail Nikomarov is an entrepreneur and African energy expert committed to resolve the continent’s electricity shortage. He co-founded Bushveld Energy to provide large scale energy storage solutions across the African continent. Working with numerous partners, the company is also in the process of localising manufacturing of vanadium redox flow batteries in South Africa. Previously, Mikhail spent 6.5 years with McKinsey & Company in Moscow and Johannesburg, advising national governments, utilities and manufacturers on growth strategy & policy and leading operational turnarounds in the energy sector, and as a commercial banker in the USA prior to that. In 2015, Mikhail co-authored McKinsey & Company’s report "Brighter Africa: the growth potential of the sub-Saharan electricity sector." He holds an MBA from INSEAD, a Diploma from the London School of Economics and two undergraduate degrees in History and Economics from the University of Massachusetts.
