Landiwe Jackie Mahlangu is a Director at Amazwe Holdings. Landiwe is the immediate past Chairperson of the Municipal Demarcation Board from 2009 to 2014 where he had served as a art time board member from 2004 to 2009. During his tenure he raised the public profile of the Municipal Demarcation Board as an independent constitutional body responsible for Municipal boundary reviews, delamination of wards and assessment of capacity of Municipalities. Under his leadership, the Board was able to redevelop its analytical base, refocused its processes and strengthened its key capabilities while deepening its engagement with an increasingly conscious and expanding pool of stakeholders. This repositioned the Board as a critical player in the spatial for transformation in South Africa.
He is an economist by training with vast experience in development and financing of infrastructure sectors such as water, electricity, housing and municipal services. Previously a management executive within the DBSA, he headed up various strategic positions the last one being Head: Operations Evaluation Division. As a Head of Operation Evaluation, he was responsible for independent assessment of the development impact of all DBSA operations. Some of the major evaluation he under took include Lesotho Highlands Water Project Phase 1A; and joint evaluations with other international Dfi including German Development Bank (kfw) French Development Agency (AFD) and African Development Bank (AfDB). Prior to this appointment he was the Manager for Operations Secretariat-which later was renamed as Operations and Credit. In this position he was responsible for special projects and agency services. Some of the programmes he managed and overseen on behalf of third -party partners include the Labour Job Creation Trust; NER Electrification Programme; and Electricity Distribution Industry Restructuring Project.
Landiwe serves and has served on boards of both JSE listed and non-listed companies which includes Katenge Tubular Construction (Pty) Ltd; Inter-Waste Holdings Limited and SeaKay Holdings. He currently serves as Chief Economic Advisor (Chief Economist) of the National African Federated Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NAFCOC). He is also member of Research Advisory Group of Commonwealth Local Government Forum. He regularly write opinion pieces in business newspapers.
