Ann Rispin, Advisory Director, British International School, Addis Ababa

In her long career, Ann Rispin has started and led new schools in both Britain and Ethiopia.  She has also been part of the Independent Schools Inspectorate in the UK, specializing in Mathematics and ICT. Her belief is that education is a social enterprise, which must be diverse and inclusive. Her school in Bahir Dar, on the shores of Lake Tana, whilst majority fee-paying also benefits deserving youngsters from poor backgrounds freely.  In partnership with Cheshire Foundation they work with the disabled, having a wheelchair workshop on their campus. In preparing global citizens we must ensure that our big cities do not become hubs leaving the countryside behind as we strive for technological advancement.
