Mr James Rhee | Chief Executive Officer - North Asia

James Rhee is CEO of AirAsia for North Asia where he is responsible for establishing and expanding their business in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and China. 

Prior to joining AirAsia, he was a Senior Adviser at the Octave Private Equity Group (a Thiel Capital company) where he led the acquisition strategy for several tech industry businesses. Prior to Octave Group, he was Vice President and GM of TE Connectivity’s Global PC and Tablet business.

Previously, he was an Executive Officer at Dell where he held several leadership positions for APJ marketing and operations across a broad range of customer segments from Consumer to Large Enterprise.

Prior to Dell, he was an engagement manager at McKinsey & Company where he focused on Financial Institutions and the Telecom sectors. He began his career at the International Monetary Fund as a Research Officer advising former Soviet Union countries on monetary policy.

James received his M.B.A. from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and his B.S. in Economics from the University of Minnesota.
