Mr Mark Wood, Director, Regulatory Affairs-Biological New Projects, Merial

Dr. Mark Wood is a graduate of Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine with undergraduate work in Pre-Vet, Pre-Med, Medical Technology and Laboratory Technology. He served as a food, companion, and exotic animal practitioner in the states for Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida before entering a post-doctorate program with the United States Department of Agriculture which included staff officer, senior executive service, and veterinary vaccinology training. He was then appointed senior staff veterinarian for what is now the Center for Veterinary Biologics Policy, Evaluation, and Licensing.  He later became the Director of Scientific Affairs for the Animal Health Institute representing the manufacturers of animal health care products involving US local, state, and federal government as well as global regulatory agency initiatives with science and public policy impact on international harmonization. Since that time, he has worked in private industry as a director in various capacities including global biological regulatory affairs, manufacturing, and market support for multiple companies including Pharmacia & Upjohn, Pfizer Animal Health (now Zoetis), and presently Merial, Inc.  His affiliate activities include past chairman for multiple trade association groups including the American Veterinary Medical Association’s Council on Biologics and Therapeutic Agents and Clinical Practitioners Advisory Committee and the Animal Health Institute’s Veterinary Biologics Section.
