Prof. Frank Koppens is a group leader at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO). Koppens is deputy leader of the optoelectronics work package of the graphene flagship. The Nano-optoelectronics group of Prof. Koppens focuses on the realization of a variety of novel active and hybrid nano-photonic and plasmonic devices based on graphene and related 2d materials. The group develops new applications for sensing, photodetection and nano-scale light processing and switching. In addition, we reveal new physical phenomena related to strong interactions between light and matter, mediated by 2d materials.
