Dr Jitendar Sharma, Head Healthcare Technology, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare

Dr. Jitendar Kumar Sharma heads the Healthcare Technology Division at National Health Systems Resource Center, a technical support institution under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. Since October 2015, he is also Advisor to the government of Andra Pradesh for Health and Medical Technology. 

He earlier served as Hospital Administrator at Sri Sathya Sai Institute of higher medical sciences, later as consultant to the World Bank and in World Health Organization, Geneva. He is adjunct faculty at University of Adelaide, Australia and program director for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) fellowships in India. He is an adviser to Health Technology Innovation Centre, IIT Madras and has contributed through several research papers, two books including India’s first book on Medical Devices brought out by Quality Council of India, and has been a contributor to the WHO report on access to healthcare technologies. He has been trained at reputed academic institutions including Harvard School of Public Health; Australian Patient Safety Foundation; WHO center for drug monitoring, Sweden; and Pharmaceutical & Medical Devices Agency of Japan.
