Elmira Jalilian, PhD, Health Science & Technology, Harvard Medical School

Dr Elmira Jalilian is a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School. Prior to this, Elmira did her Ph.D. in Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine at University College London (UCL), UK.

In her Ph.D. thesis, she studied the generation and characterization of iPSC-derived Endothelial Progenitor Cells (EPCs) and their molecular mechanisms during differentiation. She also investigated important signaling pathways that regulate endothelial cell phenotype during vascular regeneration.

She is now working at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School and working on development of novel 3D bio-printing technology to generate pre-vascularised muscle fibers with the aim of designing the next generation of scaffold for vascular tissue engineering constructs. Elmira holds a Master’s degree in Medical Genetic from Institute of Genetic Medicine,Newcastle University, and a bachelor’s degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology.
